The Festival Playlist is the live seasonal activity hub in Forza Horizon 6. It’s where weekly challenges, races, stunts, and special events appear, letting players earn points that unlock exclusive cars and rewards.
The system launched with Series 1: Welcome to Japan on May 21, 2026, two days after the game’s global release on May 19. Rather than a confirmed delay, the staggered start appears to have been intentional—giving players time to progress through the early game and unlock access to the Horizon Festival before seasonal content began.
How the Festival Playlist works
The playlist operates on a repeating monthly cycle called a Series. Each series lasts four weeks and is divided into four seasons:
- Summer
- Autumn
- Winter
- Spring
Each season runs for about one week and introduces a new set of activities that award playlist points. Completing these activities contributes both to the current season total and to the overall series total, which unlocks larger monthly rewards.
Unlock requirement: the Yellow Wristband
Players cannot access the Festival Playlist immediately at the start of the game.
To unlock it, you must:
- Progress through the opening story events
- Complete the qualifier race at the Horizon Festival
- Earn your first progression reward, the Yellow Wristband
Once this wristband is obtained—usually after the first hour or two of gameplay—the Festival Playlist becomes available in the game menu.
Types of seasonal challenges
Each week’s playlist includes a mix of activities designed to reward different playstyles. Completing them adds points toward seasonal rewards.
Common challenge categories include:
Seasonal Championships
Multi‑race events with car or class restrictions. Winning the championship usually awards a large amount of playlist points along with a specific reward item.
PR Stunts
Performance challenges such as speed traps, speed zones, drift zones, or danger signs. Players must beat a target score or speed to earn points.
Daily Challenges
Short tasks that unlock one per day during the season. Each provides a small number of playlist points and remains available for several days after appearing.
Photo Challenges and themed tasks
Weekly objectives such as taking a photo with a specific car or visiting a location.
Treasure Hunts
Clue‑based puzzles that lead to hidden chests on the map. Solving the clue and finding the chest grants credits and playlist points.
Together, these activities create the core loop: complete events, earn points, unlock rewards, and prepare for the next week’s rotation.
Series 1 schedule: Welcome to Japan
The first playlist series introduced the game’s seasonal live content structure.
- Series 1: May 21 – June 18, 2026
- Four seasons released weekly, starting with Summer on May 21.
Across the series, players can earn 10 reward cars through seasonal and series milestones.
Summer season reward cars
During Series 1 – Summer (May 21–28), the featured seasonal reward cars include:
- 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z Edition
- 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR
These unlock after reaching the required playlist point thresholds during the active season.
Major series rewards
In addition to weekly rewards, players accumulate series points across all four seasons.
The main Series 1 rewards are:
- 2008 Mazda Furai — unlocked at 60 series points
- 2010 Nissan 370Z — unlocked at 120 series points
These headline rewards encourage players to participate in multiple weeks of events rather than completing only a single season.
Ohtani Region treasure hunt location
The first treasure hunt in Series 1 takes place in the Ohtani region.
The treasure chest is located:
- On a gravel road southwest of Kinkaku‑Ji Temple
- Near the Ohtani Horizon Festival site
After following the clue and reaching the location, simply drive into the chest to break it and claim the reward, which includes 100,000 credits and playlist progress.
Hidden treasure cars across Japan
Beyond the playlist challenges, Forza Horizon 6 also hides collectible Treasure Cars around the map.
- There are nine treasure cars total, with one located in each region of Japan.
- In Ohtani, players can discover a 1985 Mazda RX‑7 GSL‑SE hidden near clusters of radio towers west of the Horizon Festival site.
These discoveries function as optional exploration rewards separate from the weekly playlist system.
What comes after Series 1
When the first four‑week cycle ends on June 18, 2026, it is replaced by the next rotating update:
Series 2: Horizon Decades.
Like the opening series, it introduces a new set of seasonal events, playlists, and reward cars, continuing the game’s live weekly challenge structure.
