Few manga releases generate as much anticipation—and patience—as Berserk. Since the death of creator Kentaro Miura in 2021, the series has continued, but with noticeably long gaps between chapters. Those delays stem from how the manga is now produced and the care taken to finish Miura’s story respectfully.

Who Is Continuing Berserk After Kentaro Miura

After Miura’s death, publisher Hakusensha confirmed that the series would continue with:

• Studio Gaga — Miura’s team of assistants, responsible for drawing the manga.
• Kouji Mori — a longtime friend of Miura and fellow manga artist, supervising the story direction.

The continuation began in June 2022 in Young Animal magazine, the same publication that had serialized Berserk for decades. The credits now typically list the work as “original work by Kentaro Miura, manga by Studio Gaga, supervised by Kouji Mori.”

Mori was chosen because Miura had shared major plot plans and the intended ending with him during their long friendship, making him one of the few people familiar with the story’s direction.

Why Berserk Chapters Take So Long Now

The current team deliberately works at a slower pace than typical serialized manga. Several factors contribute to the long gaps between chapters:

1. Reconstructing Miura’s Intended Story

The team is not inventing the story from scratch. Instead, Mori and Studio Gaga are attempting to follow the narrative Miura described before his death. That means carefully reconstructing plot points rather than improvising major arcs.

2. Matching Miura’s Extremely Detailed Art Style

Miura was famous for painstaking artwork and dense panel detail. Reproducing that style takes significant time, even for assistants who worked with him for years.
