Aprilia Makes History

Aprilia's top-three sweep — Martin on the factory RS-GP26, Ogura on the Trackhouse satellite Aprilia, and Bezzecchi on the factory team's second bike — was the first ever podium lockout in a MotoGP sprint race. Bezzecchi's ride was especially notable: he had undergone clavicle surgery just three weeks earlier and fought his way from fifth on the grid to third, overtaking both Marc Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio in the process.

Ducati's Disastrous Afternoon

Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) started from third on the grid but suffered severe rear tyre degradation in the closing laps. He lost four positions, being passed by Pedro Acosta, Joan Mir, and Franco Morbidelli, and crossed the line in 9th — scoring just a single championship point.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) had a weekend to forget. He failed to escape Q1 on Friday, qualifying 13th, and started the sprint from 16th after further struggles in qualifying. He finished 17th, describing a total lack of feeling with his GP26. Bagnaia said he could not even touch his knee to the ground in corners, later citing ongoing front-end and rear-grip issues that forced him to overcompensate.

The top Ducati rider was Alex Marquez (Gresini) in 4th, followed by VR46's Fabio Di Giannantonio in 5th — both on satellite machinery. The factory Ducati Lenovo team was comprehensively beaten at a circuit where Ducati has historically been strong.

Moto2 Qualifying: Guevara Takes Pole with Lap Record

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha/Boscoscuro) secured pole position with a new lap record of 2'01.483, a dominant margin of more than 0.3 seconds over the field.

Guevara's pole was the standout performance in an intermediate-class session dominated by Spanish riders.

Moto3 Qualifying: Home Hero Ogden on Pole

Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power/KTM) thrilled the British home crowd by claiming pole position by a razor-thin 0.010 seconds over his teammate Adrian Cruces, securing a CIP 1-2.

The top three riders all lapped within less than four-tenths of a second, setting up a tightly contested Moto3 race for Sunday.

Looking Ahead to Sunday's Grand Prix

The sprint results raise major questions for Ducati ahead of Sunday's full-distance race. Both factory riders suffered badly from rear tyre degradation, a problem that typically only worsens over longer race distances at Silverstone's fast, abrasive surface. Aprilia, by contrast, looks supremely confident across both its factory and satellite entries. The championship pendulum has swung decisively: Martin leads Ogura by 17 points, while Marquez and Bagnaia face an uphill fight to recover lost ground in the title battle.
