The Mint & On-Chain Financial Breakdown

The numbers tell a detailed story of a rapid, high-value mint that also contained unusual pre-mint activity.

• Collection name: Spritehood Wisps
• Total supply: 44,444 NFTs
• Date: August 11, 2026
• Public mint duration: Approximately 53 minutes and 48 seconds, though Villemain declared it sold out at 57 minutes
• Pricing tiers: 37,430 NFTs sold at $17 each; 5,526 NFTs sold at $117 each
• Total paid mints: 42,956 NFTs. The remaining 1,488 were pre-minted by the deployer.

• Floor price post-mint: Approximately $30.32 on OpenSea shortly after launch

The Unverified Smart Contract & Transparency Issues

A major source of community concern centered on the Spritehood smart contract itself.

• The contract was not verified on Robinhood Chain's Blockscout explorer at launch, meaning its source code could not be independently audited by users .
• Reports note that the lack of contract verification, combined with the deployer pre-minting 1,488 NFTs for free, raised immediate red flags among community members and on-chain observers .
• Critics pointed out that an unverified contract could give the deployer potential access to hidden mint functions, unlimited supply inflation, or withdrawal mechanisms that buyers cannot inspect beforehand .
• The incident revived broader scrutiny of Robinhood Chain's lack of a mandatory contract verification or scam-prevention framework for launchpad projects .

Past Removal as Pudgy Penguins Co-Founder

To understand the context of the controversy, one must look back at Villemain's history with one of the most successful NFT brands.

• July 2021: Villemain co-founded Pudgy Penguins, minting 8,888 NFTs at 0.03 ETH each, netting approximately $800,000 .
• January 5, 2022: An investor publicly alleged that Villemain and the team had drained the project's treasury .
• January 2022: Pudgy Penguins token holders voted to remove Villemain as co-founder over these accusations .
• April 2022: The remaining team sold the entire Pudgy Penguins IP for about 750 ETH (~$2.5 million) to a new owner led by Luca Netz, who subsequently turned it into one of the most successful NFT brands .
• Villemain's return with Spritehood was widely described as a "controversial comeback" — drawing on the brand recognition of the project he was removed from, while bringing the same transparency concerns that led to his ouster .
