The headline launch: Ascentiz turns an exoskeleton into a modular platform
Ascentiz’s Best of IFA-winning modular exoskeleton was the most dramatic example of wearables moving beyond the wrist. Its powered Exo-Belt is a shared waist-mounted core that can be paired with the Ascentiz-H hip module, designed to aid forward propulsion for running and climbing, and the Ascentiz-K knee module, intended for impact reduction and descent control. The modules can also be combined in an H+K configuration.

The form factor is the point. At a desk, the device is intended to capture context from a fixed position; away from the desk, the same core moves with the wearer. That approach attempts to give a personal AI system a broader view of routines than a phone or watch alone can provide.

It also makes privacy central rather than incidental. Lingverse has said the system includes physical privacy controls, but independent evidence about how its privacy design performs in everyday use remains limited. Consumer pricing and a sales date had not been announced at IFA.

Screenless bands bet on background health tracking
IFA also reinforced the appeal of fitness trackers without a display. Rather than asking users to check another screen, these bands emphasize continuous sensing and app-based coaching.
Actxa Spark Band combines sleep, recovery, heart-health, activity and fitness insights with a one-minute AI-generated glucose estimate. Actxa says it offers up to 14 days of battery life and requires no subscription. Its glucose feature is explicitly an estimate for general wellness, not continuous glucose monitoring or a tool for diagnosing or managing diabetes.

Motorola’s Moto Watch Ultra was the counterpoint to display-free trackers. It runs Wear OS 6 and combines LTE/eSIM, dual-band GPS, a 1.5-inch OLED display and access to Google’s wearable app ecosystem. Motorola describes it as its first Moto Watch with LTE functionality.
