Super Mario Sunshine, the 2002 GameCube classic, joins the Nintendo GameCube — Nintendo Classics app on August 13, 2026 . This marks the first modern re-release of Sunshine since the limited-time Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, which was available from September 2020 through March 2021 and has since been discontinued digitally . With Sunshine's addition, all three games from the 3D All-Stars compilation (Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy) are now accessible through other means — 64 and Galaxy were already available on the N64 and GameCube Classics apps respectively .

The GameCube Classics app is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and requires the higher-tier Expansion Pack subscription, which costs $49.99 per year (or about $4 per month) .

Two Cancelled Virtual Boy Games + Color Filter — August 4, 2026

On August 4, 2026, two previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles make their global debut on the Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics app :

• Zero Racers — a cancelled F-Zero spin-off racing game developed by Nintendo .
• D-Hopper (originally "Dragon Hopper") — a cancelled action-adventure game developed by Intelligent Systems .

Nintendo is also adding a highly requested game screen color change feature that lets players customize the color filter by holding the right stick and pressing L or R to cycle through different palettes . This feature was teased when the Virtual Boy app was first announced . Both the Virtual Boy games and the color filter update are available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers .
