As of October 4, Gears of War: E-Day is in its five-day early-access window, ahead of its October 6 launch. Some players have run into access and PC issues, and reports of cheating have surfaced in multiplayer. The “Marcus-Lancer” access error has been fixed, with affected players receiving 15,000 in-game Coins.

Who gets early access—and when does Game Pass start?
Early access began October 1 for Premium Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers who also have the Premium Upgrade. A standard preorder or a Game Pass subscription without that upgrade does not, by itself, provide early access.

The full release is scheduled for October 6 on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam. The game is also due to be available that day through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Access errors and the Steam listing
The “Marcus-Lancer” error that prevented some players from getting in has been reported as fixed. Players affected by the issue are being given 15,000 Coins, which do not count toward the weekly Coin limit.

The Premium Edition also temporarily disappeared from Steam. The Gears Community said the listing had been restored.

Some players have continued to report a “You’re too early” message. Check that the account has the required Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade entitlement and that the correct edition is being launched. If access is not included with the account, the standard release date is October 6. Available reporting does not establish one fix that applies to every remaining message.

PC issues and hardware requirements
Reports have flagged PC issues, but the available coverage does not establish how widespread crashes are or identify a single cause.
7 The published requirements call for an SSD and a graphics card that supports hardware ray tracing.

There is also a discrepancy in reported storage needs: PC Gamer lists 115 GB, while another report lists 130 GB. Check the current store listing for the platform you’re using before deciding how much space to clear.

Multiplayer cheating reports and crossplay
Cheaters have been reported in multiplayer, but the available reports do not establish the scale of the issue. Coverage says cheating has been predominantly associated with PC players, while noting that it is not limited to PC. Xbox players can turn off crossplay to reduce exposure to PC lobbies where that option is available; it is not a guarantee of cheat-free matches.

What the full release offers—and what early reviews tell us
The game follows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the Locust invasion’s first days.
20 At the time of writing, Metacritic lists a score of 87, but reviews available ahead of launch have focused on the story campaign. They therefore do not settle questions about launch-day multiplayer performance or cheating.
