Xiaomi HyperOS 4 Release Status: China Beta, Devices and Global Timing

As of August 24, 2026, Xiaomi HyperOS 4 is officially announced and available only as a phased beta for selected devices using China ROMs. It is not yet a public stable OTA, and Xiaomi has not published a stable-release date or a Global, EEA, India or POCO rollout schedule. 239

That distinction matters because some firmware reports describe builds as “stable beta” or “stable.” Those labels can refer to internal validation or branch preparation rather than software that Xiaomi has released to ordinary users.

First HyperOS 4 beta devices

Xiaomi’s first China beta wave began on August 14 and covered these phones and tablets: 11

The second wave is scheduled to begin on August 27. Xiaomi’s published plan includes the Xiaomi 17 Max, Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15S Pro, Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 15, Redmi K90 Max, Redmi K90 Ultra and Redmi K Pad 2, although Xiaomi notes that supported models and dates may change. 11

A third wave is scheduled from September 17, with additional Redmi K100, Redmi K80, Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 and Xiaomi Pad models listed for testing. 11

The schedule is a beta distribution plan, not a promise that every listed device will receive the same build or a final stable update on the same date.

What the HyperOS 4 firmware numbers mean

HyperOS 4 builds use the OS4.0 version family. Reports tracking Xiaomi firmware distinguish between two useful patterns: 17

• OS4.0.260814.1.x.PRE indicates an early pre-release development build.
• OS4.0.0.x indicates that a stable branch may be under preparation for a particular device or region, but it does not prove that a public OTA is available.

One report also identified OS4.0.1.0.XPZCNXM on the China Xiaomi Pad 8 as an internally ready stable build. That is evidence of late-stage internal testing, not confirmation of a public release date. 24

The practical takeaway is simple: a stable-looking firmware number is not the same as a stable update on your phone. Users should rely on Xiaomi’s device-specific OTA or Community announcement rather than server-side build sightings.

Is there an official stable-release window?

No. Xiaomi has not announced when the first public stable HyperOS 4 OTA will be released, either in China or internationally. 3923

The August 14, August 27 and September 17 dates refer to beta waves. They should not be presented as stable-release dates. A China stable release could follow the testing programme, but assigning it a specific month would be speculation based on the information currently available.

The same caution applies to leaked or reported regional builds. Their existence may show that development is progressing, but it does not establish that Xiaomi has approved a consumer rollout.

China versus global availability

China is currently the only market with a concrete HyperOS 4 beta schedule and named device waves. Xiaomi’s global Community information says the initial recruitment is restricted to China ROM devices and that Global, EEA, Russia and India registration or release dates have not been announced. 3

Xiaomi’s Global Android 17 Developer Preview is a separate programme. It lists the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi and Xiaomi 15T Pro, but that developer preview should not be mistaken for a global HyperOS 4 beta or stable release. 1

For users outside China, the current status is therefore:

• No confirmed public HyperOS 4 beta registration.
• No confirmed stable OTA date.
• No official Global, EEA, India or POCO rollout calendar.
• No basis for treating China firmware as an international release schedule.

The biggest visual change: a glass-style interface

HyperOS 4’s headline design change is a more translucent and fluid interface described in coverage as “Liquid Glass” or “soft-light glass.” The design uses transparency, lighting and rendering effects to make interface elements feel more layered and dynamic. 57

The visual treatment is one of the clearest differences from earlier HyperOS versions, but it may not appear identically across every device during beta testing. Reports indicate that some visual effects are being limited to selected models while Xiaomi continues optimizing them. 29

HyperConnect becomes more central to the ecosystem

HyperOS 4 extends Xiaomi’s focus beyond the individual phone. HyperConnect is designed to link phones, tablets, computers, televisions, cars, watches and smart-home products into a connected device ecosystem. 655

Xiaomi’s documented HyperOS 4-era capabilities include an updated device hub, AI-assisted interaction between Xiaomi phones or tablets and Windows computers, and testing for Mac interconnection. The Windows integration can support functions such as syncing notifications and transferring photos through an AI interface, subject to software, network and device requirements. 454950

This is also where regional limitations are likely to matter most. Cross-device features depend on the connected products, Xiaomi account, operating-system version, companion apps and local availability. A feature shown in the China beta should not automatically be assumed to work on a Global ROM.

Performance and camera improvements

Xiaomi says HyperOS 4 improves resource management through HyperCore changes such as load calculation and memory preloading. The goal is to anticipate resource demand and prepare frequently used functions more efficiently. 622

In Xiaomi’s reported testing, launching 30 apps after nine hours of continuous use took 139.7 seconds on HyperOS 4, compared with 169.4 seconds on HyperOS 3—a claimed improvement of about 17.5%. 7

Xiaomi also highlights faster camera startup and HDR processing. These figures are vendor-controlled measurements rather than independent benchmarks, so they indicate Xiaomi’s performance target, not a guaranteed result for every phone or workload. 7

AI features: Super XiaoAi 2.0 and MiMo-powered tools

The main AI headline is Super XiaoAi 2.0, Xiaomi’s upgraded assistant. Reported improvements include better task planning, content generation and support for scenarios involving multiple applications and devices. The assistant is connected to Xiaomi’s MiMo AI model and is intended to work more deeply across the company’s software ecosystem. 622

HyperOS 4 also uses AI-assisted resource management, including workload calculation and memory preloading. Some additional assistant functions remain in internal testing or are planned for later beta stages, so the feature set may change before the stable release. 2229

Availability will depend on the device, language, account region and local services. That makes it especially risky to assume that China beta AI features will appear unchanged on Global, EEA or India firmware.

Firmware branches may be approaching stable validation, yet Xiaomi has not confirmed a public stable OTA.

For global Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO owners, the most accurate answer is still “not scheduled.” The confirmed improvements—glass-style visuals, Super XiaoAi 2.0, HyperConnect expansion and Xiaomi-claimed performance gains—show the direction of the update, but the international timing and final feature list remain open.
