Inside Scape, the AI-Native Email Client From Two 23-Year-Old Swedes That Just Raised $3.2M

Scape is a desktop email app (not a browser extension) that uses AI agents to actively process and act on your inbox. Its key capabilities include:

• Automated email replies — AI drafts context-aware responses based on the content of each thread, with a human-in-the-loop review before sending .
• Attachment generation — The system can generate, manage, and attach files directly from within the email workflow, reducing manual back-and-forth .
• Inbox prioritization — Incoming messages are automatically ranked by importance based on user-defined rules and sender context, surfacing what needs attention first .
• Local meeting notetaker — Scape captures meeting notes locally from Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, and in-person calls, running on-device for privacy .
• Follow-up tracking — It monitors threads that need replies or action items and proactively nudges the user .

The app processes data locally where possible for privacy, and the founding team of 1–10 employees is headquartered in Stockholm .

Background

Scape didn't start as an email product. Founder Melvin Hagberg built the initial version as a customer-service tool while going through Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch at age 21 . Only after fighting with his own inbox did he realize the underlying AI workflow solved a much bigger problem. Co-founder Elis Hodzic — also 23, and formerly at a top-tier European early-stage fund — joined as an investor before going all-in as co-founder in 2025 .

The founding philosophy is "human-in-the-loop" AI: the system drafts, prioritizes, and organizes, but the user retains final control over what gets sent .

Availability

Scape is currently in early access / waitlist-only mode. Anyone can join the waitlist on their website to try the desktop client, with new users admitted in batches. A public open launch has not yet been announced .
