Custodea: An EU-Hosted Data Platform for SME Analytics and AI

What Custodea does

Custodea is a European AI data platform aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) whose finance, customer, HR and operational information is spread across separate software products. Its proposition is to consolidate that information in a dedicated private environment hosted in the EU, where it can be used for analytics and AI applications. 36

For a typical business, this means reducing reliance on manual exports and spreadsheets when a question requires data from more than one system. Rather than replacing an accounting package or CRM, Custodea is designed to sit alongside those systems as a central data layer. 69

How the platform centralises business data

Custodea says it connects, on a read-only basis, to business applications including Exact Online, HubSpot and Personio. It also lists integrations such as AFAS and DATEV. The resulting data environment is continuously synchronised, so newly available source data can be reflected without repeated manual exports or a complex migration. 29

That matters because accounting, CRM and HR data often live with different teams and in different SaaS products. A centralised dataset can make it easier to work with a current view of the business across those functions. 6

Using familiar BI and data tools

The company positions the central environment as a data source for tools teams may already use, including Excel, Power BI, Looker, Tableau and dbt. It can also provide consolidated business data to customers' AI agents. 2

In practice, the value of this setup is not simply having another dashboard. It is creating a single governed dataset from which a finance team can build a report, an analyst can create a transformation, or an AI workflow can draw context—without each project starting with separate exports from disconnected systems.

The AI use case depends on the data foundation

Custodea also describes an AI assistant intended to analyse the consolidated business context, including questions about revenue trends and outstanding invoices. 14

The important distinction is that AI is presented as a layer on top of synchronised business information, rather than as a standalone chatbot with partial access to company records. Whether an AI answer is useful will still depend on the connected systems, the quality of the underlying records and the permissions a customer sets.

Data control and EU hosting

For European SMEs, data location and access governance are central to the pitch. Custodea says its connectors are read-only and that customers can configure and revoke access. It describes the platform as a private, EU-hosted environment and says customers retain control of their data. 26

These design claims do not eliminate the need for each company to assess its own compliance, security and vendor requirements. But they explain why the platform is positioned around data sovereignty as well as analytics: a business can seek AI and reporting capabilities without giving an external workflow unrestricted control over its operational systems.

What the €350,000 seed round will fund

Custodea announced a €350,000 seed round from investors in its network in September 2026. The company says it will use the funding to launch the platform, broaden its software integrations and scale across European markets. 346

The funding gives Custodea a route to develop the product beyond its initial connectors. Its broader ambition is to give SMEs access to a more managed version of the data infrastructure that larger organisations often build with dedicated data and analytics teams. That remains a product promise rather than a proven outcome, but the underlying problem—fragmented business data—is clear. 46
