Apple may be preparing to turn its smart-home platform into a fuller security offering. Reporting points to a 2027 system centered on a privacy-focused camera or sensor, AI-driven household awareness and a companion monitoring service. The reported plan: security that also drives automations

The reported first-party device is described as a privacy-centric security camera and automation product that uses AI to monitor activity in the surrounding environment, rather than functioning only as a conventional video feed. It would connect to a new home-security and monitoring service. 13

Reports have also said the device could use facial recognition and infrared sensors to identify who is in a room and detect occupancy. That could make cameras part of everyday Home automations—for example, switching lights off after a person leaves or playing a household member’s preferred music when they enter.
