Square Enix has set Final Fantasy VII Revelation—the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series—for April 8, 2027. More significantly for players outside the PlayStation ecosystem, it is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC at the same time.

Release date and platforms
Revelation will launch on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC.

That simultaneous platform list marks a change from the prior remake-trilogy releases, which reached non-PlayStation platforms later. Square Enix has announced no PlayStation timed-exclusivity period for Revelation; instead, the game is positioned as a day-one multiplatform release.

Price, pre-orders and early access
In the United States, the announced digital pricing is:
- Standard Edition: $69.99
- Premium Edition: $99.99
- Premium Plus Edition: $109.99

Physical and digital pre-orders have opened, though availability can differ by store, platform and region. Square Enix initially said Switch 2 digital pre-orders would follow later than other platforms.

Both the Premium and Premium Plus digital editions include 24-hour early access. Premium Plus does not provide a longer access period; it includes the Premium content alongside extra digital items, including a digital art book.

What the Story Expansion Pass includes
The Premium and Premium Plus editions include the Story Expansion Pass. Its announced contents are two planned story DLC releases:
- Sephiroth
- Vincent & the Turks

The pass also includes the day-one Reclaimant Choker & Survival Set. Square Enix describes the choker as an accessory that slightly restores HP when enemies are defeated, while the Survival Set supplies items intended to help in the early stages of the game.

Reports list the Sephiroth DLC for Winter 2027 and Vincent & the Turks for Spring 2028. Those are planned windows, not confirmed release dates, so buyers should treat them as subject to change.

Trailers and showcase appearances
Square Enix announced Revelation at Summer Game Fest Live with a Spring 2027 target before later confirming the exact April 8 release date.
13
The date was revealed during a September 2026 PlayStation State of Play, where Square Enix also presented a new trailer and extended gameplay footage.

Available material supports the Summer Game Fest debut and State of Play presentation, but does not substantiate a Nintendo Direct appearance. It is best not to treat one as confirmed without a Nintendo or Square Enix announcement.
Are Final Fantasy VII adaptations in development?
Director Naoki Hamaguchi has discussed the potential for Square Enix properties—including Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts—to expand through live-action or animated adaptations. But consideration is not the same as a greenlight: no specific Final Fantasy VII television series, film or animated project has been announced.

For now, the concrete release to watch is Final Fantasy VII Revelation itself: the finale is due April 8, 2027, on every announced major platform at once.
