Honor Magic9: Everything Teased Ahead of the September 28 China Launch

Honor’s Magic9 launch campaign is unusually focused: rather than positioning the series around a single camera specification, it is presenting the phones as tools for mobile filmmaking. The China launch is scheduled for September 28, 2026, in Beijing, and Honor’s official material describes a cinema triple-camera system created with ARRI, the German professional cinema-camera company. 310

The core pitch: ARRI-inspired mobile filmmaking

Honor says the Magic9 series will use an ARRI Cinema Mode with an ARRI LogC3 video pipeline, peak-focus assistance and false-colour monitoring. It has also promoted a cinema-grade shotgun-microphone feature and a professional video expansion kit intended to improve grip and camera movement while shooting. 3

Those tools matter because they move beyond automatic phone video. LogC3 is a logarithmic video encoding approach intended to retain image information for colour work, while focus and false-colour aids are monitoring tools commonly associated with more deliberate video production. Honor also says it is bringing 11 ARRI Looks to the phone for real-time preview and direct capture, covering different cinematic colour treatments. 7

The Magic9 series is set to introduce what Honor calls Android’s first 55MP “Agile Eye” square-format front camera. Instead of the usual rectangular capture area, the 1:1 sensor is designed to provide a more expansive frame. Honor says the 200mm accessory weighs 88g, while it pitches the 500mm converter as a long-reach solution. 3

Several widely circulated claims should remain in the “wait for launch” category:
