Version 1.70 revives Ninja Battle and changes the event structure so that both Ninja Battle and the Proficiency Event can be held regularly. Ninja Battle also gains a Wanted Players feature, while the Proficiency Event gives players a faster way to raise proficiency.
The update adds Special Challenges, which reward players with new titles for completing specific tasks. The Proficiency Level cap also increases to 130, creating additional progression beyond the previous limit.
Alongside those systems, the patch adds new items, titles, Nanashi’s costumes, and Color 5 costume variants for selected characters.
The update makes guards more durable while increasing the guard damage dealt by Ninja Dash, Chakra Dash, and Charge Chakra Dash. The combination is intended to make guarding more resilient without removing the dash attacks’ role in breaking through it.
Several puppet-user characters also receive individual adjustments. These include restrictions after a guarded Chakra Dash and increased throw damage for certain characters. The changes are designed to address specific character interactions rather than overhaul the entire combat system.
Bandai Namco has confirmed more free online features for winter 2026–27, followed by another new playable character in spring 2027. The announcement does not identify the future fighter or provide additional details about either planned release.
Version 1.70 is available for the platforms supported by the update: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
For players returning to Storm Connections, the patch is more than a single roster addition: Nanashi provides a new story-connected fighter, while the recurring events, higher proficiency ceiling, challenges, and balance changes give the game’s online and progression systems more to do.
