EA’s November 5, 2026 release brings 25 classic PC games to Steam for the first time, alongside GOG and the EA App. Seven are restored Anniversary Editions; the other 18 are classic releases that EA describes as faithful ports.

3 The distinction matters: the Anniversary Editions pair the original games with recovered full-motion video and updates for modern play, while the rest expand the catalogue without the same restoration treatment.

The seven restored Anniversary Editions
The restored lineup includes Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition and six games from the Wing Commander family: Wing Commander, Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi, Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger, Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom, Wing Commander Prophecy, and Privateer 2: The Darkening.

EA says the Anniversary Editions keep the games’ original look, feel and creative intent while adding quality-of-life improvements for modern systems, controls and performance. They also feature higher-resolution full-motion video recovered from master tapes.

The other 18 games
The remaining releases include titles from the Ultima and Crusader series, as well as Theme Hospital and Strike Commander. Both Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret are among the listed games.

The lineup also includes Wing Commander titles outside the seven restored editions, such as Wing Commander: Privateer, Academy and Armada.

Prices, launch discounts and free upgrades
EA’s stated list prices are $9.99 for the Anniversary Editions and $4.99 for the other classic games.
19 Launch coverage reported special pricing on Steam and GOG from November 5 through November 19, 2026; store listings showed discounts on some titles, so check the individual game’s current price rather than assuming one discount applies to every item or bundle.

Players who already own eligible digital Wing Commander games on GOG or the EA App receive the corresponding Anniversary Edition upgrade free on the platform where they own the original. That offer is platform-specific; it does not grant a Steam copy.

How EA restored the games
EA’s preservation account traces the project to March 2022, when producer Jim Vessella discovered an archive of nearly 20,000 media assets at the company’s Redwood Shores campus. The collection included Betacam, VHS and D1 tapes, film reels, CD-ROMs and other materials. By April 2026, EA says it had digitized about 6,000 assets and preserved an estimated 2,500 hours of historical footage.

The archive contained master-source footage for Road Rash and Wing Commander. EA says recovered FMV was re-edited to restore more than 1,500 cinematic scenes across the Anniversary Editions, alongside updates intended to make the games work better on modern hardware.

Why the Road Rash return stands out
Road Rash is one of the seven games receiving the restoration treatment, not just one of the catalogue ports. Its place in the release highlights the project’s broader aim: preserve the original games while making archival video and older PC titles more accessible on current storefronts.

Some coverage also reports updated performance and soundtrack details for the Road Rash edition, but those specifics are not consistently documented across the supplied sources. The clearest confirmed points are its inclusion in the restored group and EA’s use of higher-resolution footage from master tapes.
