A five-year low in large XRP withdrawals from Binance points to a sharp decline in one visible measure of whale accumulation. But withdrawals are not a complete record of buying, and exchange deposits are not proof of selling. Taken together, the figures raise questions about near-term buying support; they do not show that XRP must fall further before large buyers return.
What the Binance outflow figure measures
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost reported that the 90-day moving average of large XRP withdrawals from Binance had fallen to $49.7 million, its lowest reading since October 2021. The average was about $3.5 billion in February 2025, a decline of roughly 98.6% from that peak.

Large withdrawals from an exchange to external wallets are often used as a proxy for whale accumulation. On that reading, the data suggest far less large-holder activity moving XRP off Binance than during the February 2025 peak. They do not show that total whale buying across the whole market has fallen by the same amount: the measure covers Binance withdrawals, not every way or place large investors might buy XRP.
Why rising exchange deposits add a warning—not a sell signal
A separate CryptoQuant measure showed 6.05 billion XRP arriving at tracked exchanges in the 30 days ending October 19, the highest total since March and about double the mid-August level. Binance received 2.46 billion XRP, or roughly 40.7% of the total.

The deposits coincided with XRP rising from around $1 to a high near $1.70 before pulling back. One report also put XRP’s October decline through October 19 at 12.5%.

4 This mix—more XRP moving to exchanges while large Binance withdrawals remain subdued—can be read as a caution about potential available supply and visible buying demand. But the data do not establish that deposits caused the price decline or that the deposited tokens were sold. Transfers show movement, not the holder’s intent.

The two figures also measure different things: one is a 30-day token total across tracked exchanges, while the other is a 90-day dollar-value average for large Binance withdrawals. They cannot be subtracted to calculate net selling.
Does XRP’s price need to fall before whales return?
The outflow data do not answer that question. They show that large withdrawals from Binance are unusually low; they do not reveal the price at which large investors would choose to buy again. The cited reports do not establish that whales will wait for XRP to revisit the $0.30–$0.70 range, or that those prices are a necessary condition for renewed accumulation.
“Resilience” also depends on the comparison. A report covering October 19 put XRP’s year-to-date decline at 29.6%, compared with Bitcoin’s 6.8% decline—so XRP had underperformed Bitcoin over that period, even if its price had not returned to levels seen in earlier downturns.

There is also a distinction between the February 2025 outflow peak and XRP’s later price record: reports on the outflow peak place XRP near $3.30, while separate reporting identifies a $3.65 all-time high in July 2025.

How to read the signal without overreading it
Exchange inflows may reflect tokens becoming available for trading, but a deposit alone does not confirm a sale. Withdrawals may be consistent with accumulation, but a transfer to an external wallet does not by itself prove a new purchase or a long-term holding decision.

The outflow measure is also limited to one exchange and expressed in dollars. It cannot capture all buying across other venues or activity that does not result in an exchange withdrawal. And because the inflow and outflow figures use different time windows, units and exchange coverage, they are not a complete picture of XRP’s overall supply and demand.
The most supportable conclusion is narrow: large XRP withdrawals from Binance have dropped sharply, while a separate measure shows elevated deposits to tracked exchanges. That combination warrants attention as a possible sign of weaker visible accumulation and greater potential exchange-side supply. It is not, on its own, confirmation of whale distribution, exhausted selling, a coming reversal or more downside.
