Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra leaks point to a faster chip, not a major redesign

The strongest evidence for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra points to an incremental hardware update: leaked renders show a familiar body, reported specifications retain the S11 Ultra’s screen size and battery capacity, and a purported benchmark points to a newer processor. The EU Energy Labels circulating online add endurance and repairability claims, but they have not been presented here as final Samsung product documentation. 7242833

Design and display: much like the S11 Ultra

CAD-derived renders put the Tab S12 Ultra at approximately 326.34 × 208.46 × 5.12 mm, almost identical to the published dimensions of the S11 Ultra. They retain the centered front-camera notch and dual-rear-camera layout. Separate renders show the Tab S12+ without that notch and with a single rear camera. Renders indicate the likely appearance, not the quality or durability of a finished device. 725

Reported specifications give the Ultra a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, with a 2,960 × 1,848 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. That would preserve the S11 Ultra’s display size and resolution rather than enlarge the screen. The S12+ is more commonly listed in recent specification leaks with a 12.6-inch, 2,800 × 1,752, 120 Hz display, although some earlier reports said 12.4 inches. 7284126

Performance, RAM and storage

A purported Geekbench 7 entry for SM-X940 records 2,760 single-core and 9,291 multi-core points. It lists a MediaTek MT6993, identified as the Dimensity 9500, alongside approximately 12 GB of RAM and Android 17. One published comparison places those scores about 21% and 16% above S11 Ultra results, respectively. That is a comparison of reported benchmark runs, not proof of equivalent gains in sustained use or every app. Leaked specifications also assign the Dimensity 9500 to the S12+. 24228

The reported Ultra configurations pair 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM with 256 GB, 512 GB or up to 1 TB of storage. The S12+ is listed with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. Reports also describe microSD expansion for both, but availability of particular memory, storage and connectivity combinations remains unconfirmed. The S11 Ultra already offered configurations up to 16 GB and 1 TB, so those maximums alone would not be a new advantage over its predecessor. 28207

Battery life, durability and repairability

The Ultra is reported to retain the S11 Ultra’s 11,600 mAh battery and 45 W wired charging, while the S12+ is listed with a 10,600 mAh battery. Samsung’s published S11 Ultra specifications confirm its 11,600 mAh capacity; the S12 figures are still leaks. 28336

What a leaker describes as Samsung-sourced EU Energy Labels lists 88 hours 54 minutes of battery endurance for the S12 Ultra and 80 hours 34 minutes for the S12+. Those are label-test figures—not promises of that many hours of continuous video playback or screen-on time. Reports of the labels also assign the listed variants class G energy efficiency, class C repairability and class E drop resistance, alongside IP68 dust and water resistance. Because the labels are reported leaks, treat both the grades and endurance numbers as provisional. A repairability grade does not, by itself, explain the cost or difficulty of a specific repair. 133

Wi-Fi and 5G model numbers—and a possible launch date

The reported labels and device listings identify SM-X840 as the Tab S12+ Wi-Fi model and SM-X940 as the Ultra Wi-Fi model. SM-X846B and SM-X946B are corresponding 5G identifiers. Google Play Console reporting also lists SM-X846E, SM-X846N and SM-X848U for regional S12+ cellular versions, plus SM-X946N for a cellular Ultra. Those listings help distinguish variants but do not verify every leaked specification. 112

The expected lineup is the Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra. Leaker Evan Blass has pointed to an October 7, 2026 announcement, while Samsung has not confirmed that date. Until the company publishes the devices and their final documentation, the clearest prospective S11 Ultra-to-S12 Ultra upgrade is the chip—not a larger screen, larger battery or substantially different design. 1114728
