GTA 6 Collector’s Edition Leak: What the Vice City Box Photos Actually Show

The circulating photos may be intriguing, but they do not confirm a Grand Theft Auto VI Collector’s Edition. They appear to show an oversized black box carrying “Vice City: Leonida” text and GTA VI branding; the person who posted them claimed it was larger than a PS5 console box and had several compartments inside. None of that has been authenticated by Rockstar Games. 1718

What the alleged box photos show

Reports based on the now-deleted social-media post describe a minimalist black outer package branded “Vice City: Leonida” and marked with the GTA VI logo. The purported packaging worker said the box was larger than a PS5 retail carton, with multiple internal sections and a circular component that they thought could fit a disc. 1719

That last detail is especially easy to overread. A circular recess can serve many packaging purposes, and it does not establish that a disc is included. The photos do not verify the box’s contents, its intended recipient, whether it is a retail product, or whether it is genuine at all. 1827

What Rockstar has officially confirmed

Rockstar’s official GTA VI materials identify two editions:

• Standard Edition — $79.99 / €79.99
• Ultimate Edition — $99.99 / €99.99 2325

The important distinction is that these are not conventional disc editions. Rockstar says the physical version of GTA VI contains a download code for the digital game and that no disc is included. Its support documentation also states that a physical Ultimate Edition is not available. 18

Rockstar has not announced, priced, listed, or opened orders for a GTA VI Collector’s Edition. Until it appears through Rockstar’s own store, support pages, or Newswire, it should be treated as rumor rather than a product announcement. 18

The €199.99 “third SKU” rumor, explained

Earlier in 2026, reports pointed to retailer listings with Rockstar-coded SKUs, including one priced at €199.99. Some coverage interpreted that price as a potential collector’s edition, often converting it to roughly $230. But the listings were never confirmation of product names, contents, or even final edition structure from Rockstar. 2021

Subsequent official GTA VI information established the $79.99 Standard Edition and $99.99 Ultimate Edition. There is no official third edition attached to the €199.99 rumor. 2325

Why the box may not be a retail collector’s edition

Even if the photographed packaging is real, a consumer collector’s edition is only one possible explanation. Its unusually large format and internal dividers could fit:

• a press or influencer media kit;
• a retailer display or promotional prop;
• a manufacturing or packaging sample; or
• an accessory or merchandise package separate from the game.

One report specifically judged a press/media kit more plausible than a standard retail release, while emphasizing that matching official-looking typography does not prove authenticity. 18

A hoax also cannot be ruled out. The original post was reportedly removed, and no official Rockstar documentation has corroborated the images. 27

Rockstar has made big collector packages before

The idea of Rockstar selling a substantial merchandise package is not far-fetched. Grand Theft Auto V’s Collector’s Edition included physical items such as a SteelBook case, a Los Santos blueprint map, a New Era snapback cap, and a lockable security-deposit bag, alongside digital bonuses. 3335

For Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar offered a separate Collector’s Box built around a metal tithing box. It contained collectibles including a treasure map, pin set, playing cards, challenge coin, bandana, puzzle, and catalog—and notably did not include the game. 3940

That history means an eventual GTA VI merchandise box would be plausible. It does not, however, validate these particular photos—or overturn Rockstar’s current confirmation that its code-in-box Standard Edition has no disc. 18

Why the timing drew attention

The rumor emerged as GTA VI’s launch marketing was becoming more visible. Sony announced two limited-edition GTA VI DualSense controllers, in black and white, at a recommended U.S. price of $84.99. Both are scheduled to launch starting November 19, the same day Rockstar says GTA VI arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. 476

Rockstar says the Standard Edition’s physical code-in-box version is expected to become available for shipping or pickup from November 12, allowing buyers to preload ahead of launch. 1

The overlapping timing is consistent with ordinary launch-period retail and promotional activity. It is not evidence that Rockstar seeded the photos or is preparing a late Collector’s Edition reveal.

Bottom line

The alleged “Vice City: Leonida” box is an interesting but unverified packaging rumor. It suggests a large, compartmentalized GTA VI-branded package, not a confirmed product—and the rumored disc is directly at odds with Rockstar’s stated code-in-box approach for the Standard Edition. 117
