The Linux Foundation-backed Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) announced four new hosted projects at AGNTCon + MCPCon North America in San Jose on October 22, 2026: Anthropic’s Agent Skills, OpenAI’s Open Responses, Hugging Face’s OpenEnv and Alibaba’s OpenSandbox.
1 The projects cover different parts of agent development rather than offering four competing all-in-one agents. AAIF said the additions brought its hosted roster to 10, up from three at its December 2025 launch.

What each project adds
- Agent Skills: reusable instructions. The open format lets an agent load instructions, scripts and reference material when a task calls for them, making task-specific guidance reusable.
22
- Open Responses: a shared model API interface. The open specification is intended to let developers reuse an integration across model providers and gateways. It is based on OpenAI’s Responses API and includes shared request and streaming conventions.

- OpenEnv: reinforcement-learning environments. Hugging Face describes OpenEnv as an open framework and community hub for creating reinforcement-learning environments and making them interoperable and easier to share.
13
- OpenSandbox: isolated execution. In the foundation’s description of the new projects, OpenSandbox supports running agents’ tasks in isolated environments.

Together, the projects address what an agent can draw on, how it communicates with models, how its training environments can be shared and where its tasks can run.

What the announcement does—and doesn’t—establish
Open Responses aims to reduce the need for separate integrations across providers, but that is an interoperability goal, not a guarantee that every model or API feature will work identically. The published description says developers can reuse an integration across providers and gateways; actual compatibility depends on implementations.

The move also gives the four projects a shared foundation home. That is different from proving how future governance decisions will be made in practice. The Register’s coverage raised the question of vendor-affiliated projects being stewarded within a foundation, underscoring that shared hosting alone does not settle questions about influence or commercial interests.

The clearest takeaway is the scope of the expansion: AAIF is bringing together projects for agent instructions, model interfaces, training environments and execution—not announcing one unified agent platform.
