Tecno’s most attention-grabbing IFA 2026 device was not a phone consumers can buy. Its Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone is a working prototype designed to make the active display appear to run directly into the handset’s frame—removing the familiar black border seen around even very narrow-bezel phones. Tecno calls this a “true 0mm” display border.

What “0mm bezel” means in practice
The claim concerns the visible gap between the active display and the outer frame, typically about 1–2mm on contemporary full-screen phones. Tecno says it reworked the display architecture through internal stacking, structural changes and new screen packaging rather than simply making a conventional bezel thinner.

Hands-on reporting offers a useful qualification: viewed straight on, the concept’s display appears to meet the frame, but a tiny dark tinge can still be seen when viewing it at an angle. In other words, the result is an unusually convincing front-on visual effect, not necessarily an invisible boundary in every condition.

The device uses a rear-inserted display approach. According to the hands-on account, its dual-layer cover glass extends beneath the frame, and the display is inserted from the back before adhesive secures the assembly.

Why it is still a concept
Tecno has not announced commercial production plans for the phone.
21 That leaves important practical questions unanswered, including durability, water resistance, repairability, long-term reliability and production yield.
Touch behavior is another open issue. A phone with virtually no inactive edge has less physical separation between a user’s palm and the active screen. Tecno has referenced touch-sensitivity tuning, while reporting from IFA also noted that the raised frame could catch edge-gesture navigation. Independent, long-term usability testing remains limited.

For now, the concept is best understood as a display-engineering demonstration rather than a finished alternative to a retail flagship.
How it compares visually with an iPhone
Tecno’s own comparison materials place the concept beside an iPhone 17 Pro, emphasizing how much more screen-dominant its front looks. The concept maintains a flat, even display edge across all four sides instead of relying on aggressively curved glass to create the impression of a borderless panel.

That comparison should be read as a design comparison, not a complete device comparison. The most credible hands-on observation is that Tecno has almost eliminated the visible black border, particularly when viewed head-on; it has not established that every angle is completely border-free.

Other Tecno products at IFA 2026
MEGABOOK T15 360 and T15 360 Pro
Tecno launched the MEGABOOK T15 360 Series, its first laptop line combining a 360-degree hinge with touchscreen support. Both models have 15.6-inch touch displays; the T15 360 Pro raises the specification to a 2.5K, 120Hz panel.

The series is due in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026. Tecno listed the standard model at €899–€999, depending on configuration, while the Pro model is priced at €1,099.

POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition
The POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition was showcased as a performance-focused collaboration with the Italian lifestyle brand. Tecno says the model combines Lamborghini-influenced design with a dual-chipset architecture, Sony imaging sensors and AI features.

CAMON Slim 5G and wider ecosystem hardware
Tecno also showed the CAMON Slim 5G, built around a 6.39mm body, alongside the CAMON Slim, MEGAPAD SE 2, Watch 4 and Buds 5.
37 The broader lineup makes the IFA showcase about more than a single experimental phone: Tecno is presenting laptops, phones and connected devices as a wider hardware portfolio.
The takeaway
The 0mm-bezel phone is compelling because it addresses the last clearly visible border on modern smartphone displays. But the significance is currently visual and technical, not commercial. Until Tecno publishes a launch plan and the design can be evaluated for durability, touch handling and repairability, it remains an ambitious concept rather than a product recommendation.
