Clark has suggested that Arthur Morgan probably would not be part of a future installment, largely because the character’s arc in Red Dead Redemption 2 reached a clear conclusion. He has said fans should “not count on Arthur’s involvement” because his story has been told.
At the same time, Clark has also indicated he would be open to returning if Rockstar asked, even if that meant a cameo, flashback, or some other creative appearance.
In other words: he doesn’t expect Arthur to come back—but he hasn’t ruled it out either.
Part of the reason fans expect another entry is the massive success of Red Dead Redemption 2.
According to figures disclosed by Rockstar’s parent company Take‑Two Interactive, the game has sold more than 79 million copies worldwide.
That milestone places it among the best‑selling video games of all time, ranking around fourth on the all‑time sales list behind titles such as Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, and Wii Sports.
The broader Red Dead Redemption series has surpassed 100 million total copies sold globally, underscoring the franchise’s lasting popularity.
Clark is not the only actor who has expressed interest in revisiting the series if Rockstar makes another game.
Rob Wiethoff (John Marston) has said he would happily return to the role if asked, explaining that he would come back “in a second” if Rockstar wanted him involved.
Alex McKenna (Sadie Adler) has also said returning would be “a dream,” even suggesting she would love to see Sadie appear as a protagonist in a hypothetical sequel.
These comments are expressions of enthusiasm rather than evidence that a sequel is underway—but they show how strongly the cast remains connected to the franchise.
Roger Clark’s message to fans is fairly simple: another Red Dead Redemption game is probably inevitable, but its timing is completely unknown. He believes the series will continue someday, though he doubts Arthur Morgan will play a major role because that character’s story already reached its conclusion.
For now, Rockstar has not announced Red Dead Redemption 3. But given the extraordinary commercial success of Red Dead Redemption 2, the question many fans ask is less if another game will happen—and more when.
