Dune: Awakening’s Gamescom 2026 Announcements: Console Launch, Filmic Archive DLC and Solo Mode

Funcom used Gamescom 2026 to position Dune: Awakening’s console release as more than a platform port. The game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026, alongside a major update, a new single-player mode and the $9.99 Filmic Archive DLC. Filmic Archive brings the films to Arrakis

The Filmic Archive DLC launches on September 22 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 for $9.99. Its main appeal is cosmetic: the pack adds looks inspired by Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, including Paul Atreides’ Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor and the Caladan Stormcoat. 4510

The pack also expands base customization with new Sardaukar armor and a 73-piece Sardaukar-themed building set. That makes the DLC relevant not only to players collecting film-inspired outfits, but also to those who treat Dune: Awakening’s construction system as a major part of the game. 1013

Console launch date, Game Pass and early access

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions release on September 22, 2026. The Xbox edition will be included with Xbox Game Pass from day one. Players who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition on PlayStation or Xbox can start playing five days earlier, on September 17. 14

Funcom says the console version will arrive with the content and improvements added to the PC game during its first year. Console players therefore receive the broader updated experience rather than an isolated launch build. 1418

A full solo mode arrives with the September update

The September release also adds a fully playable single-player mode on all platforms. It includes the conclusion to Book One’s story, scalable difficulty and expanded customization options for players using single-player and private servers. 45

Those settings include controls for systems such as harvesting, experience gain and combat. The result is a more adjustable version of the survival experience: players can tune the challenge instead of treating the online game’s default balance as the only way to play. 45

PS5 and PS5 Pro performance modes

Funcom showed seven minutes of Dune: Awakening gameplay captured on PS5 Pro at Gamescom. Both PS5 and PS5 Pro support two graphics modes:

• Performance Mode: 60 frames per second
• Quality Mode: 30 frames per second

The console versions target an upscaled or dynamic 4K presentation. PS5 Pro has a higher native resolution than the standard PS5 version, while both systems offer the same headline frame-rate choices. 458

PC-console cross-play is planned, but not dated

Funcom confirmed that PC-to-console cross-play is planned for after launch. However, the announcement did not include a release date, so players should not assume the feature will be available on September 22. 45

That distinction matters for groups planning to start together across platforms: the console launch is dated, but the broader PC-console multiplayer connection is still only a post-launch commitment.

Physical PS5 edition and regional availability

Alongside the digital release, Funcom and its partners are releasing a physical edition of Dune: Awakening for PS5 on September 22. The announced markets include Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, North America and South America. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe is handling distribution in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, while Solutions 2 GO is handling North and South America. September 22 is effectively Dune: Awakening’s second launch: it brings the PC game to consoles, adds the long-promised solo experience, delivers the first year of PC updates to console players and introduces the film-inspired Filmic Archive DLC. The main unresolved feature is cross-play between PC and consoles, which Funcom has confirmed but not yet scheduled. 145
