Funcom used Gamescom 2026 to position Dune: Awakening’s September 22 release as more than a platform expansion. The survival RPG is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside a movie-inspired DLC pack, the game’s single-player content and a post-launch plan for PC–console cross-play.

The announced contents include:
- Aegis of the Unwalked Path, an armor set inspired by Paul Atreides’ visions
- Caladan Stormcoat, associated with Paul and Duke Leto
- Additional outfits and Sardaukar-inspired armor
- A 73-piece Sardaukar-themed base-building set

The pack is primarily a customization addition: its appeal is bringing recognizable film aesthetics into player outfits and bases rather than announcing a separate story campaign. The available announcements do not describe a new narrative expansion for Filmic Archive.
Console launch brings the PC game’s first year of additions
Dune: Awakening launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026. The Xbox release is also scheduled to be available through Xbox Game Pass.

Funcom says the console version will include the additions and enhancements released during the game’s first year on PC. It is also set to launch with a full single-player mode, the completed story, expanded customization and scalable difficulty options.

Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners on PlayStation 5 and Xbox are scheduled to receive five days of early access, beginning September 17.
10 That early-access timing is part of the announced plan, although the Gamescom materials provided here do not detail whether every edition or region follows identical terms.
PS5 gameplay was shown, but cross-play is still undated
Funcom presented seven minutes of Dune: Awakening gameplay captured on PlayStation 5 Pro, and Gamescom attendees could try the PS5 version at the event.

The company also confirmed that PC–console cross-play is planned after launch. However, Funcom has not announced when the feature will go live.

That distinction matters for players deciding whether to move between platforms: the September 22 console release is dated, while cross-play remains a post-launch commitment rather than a launch-day feature with a published schedule.
Physical PS5 editions are planned for selected markets
A physical PlayStation 5 edition is scheduled to launch alongside the console release on September 22 in selected markets. Funcom’s distribution plan names Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and Solutions 2 GO for North and South America.

A Japanese physical edition from Spike Chunsoft is scheduled for October 29.
8 Availability and pre-order options may vary by territory, so the regional distributor information should not be read as a guarantee that a physical edition will be stocked in every market.
What the Gamescom announcement means
The headline is the September 22 console launch, but Funcom paired it with three different kinds of content: a major platform release, a paid cosmetics-and-building pack and a future multiplayer connection between PC and consoles.
For new players, the console version is intended to arrive with a substantial amount of the PC game’s accumulated content rather than a stripped-down launch build. For existing PC players, Filmic Archive offers film-inspired customization on the same date. The main unresolved question is cross-play: it has been confirmed as a post-launch goal, but there is still no release window.
