ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) announced at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei that its fifth-generation G5 DRAM platform had entered mass production. The company also introduced two LPDDR5X products built on G5. The central comparison is a claimed increase of at least 50% in gross dies per wafer over G4—not a measured increase in working chips shipped to customers.

What changed in the G5 process?
CXMT says self-aligned quadruple patterning gives G5’s memory array an 11.95 nm active-area half-pitch. That measurement describes a repeating feature in the array; it should not be read as the size of every feature on the chip. The company also reports a 45:1 array-capacitor aspect ratio from revised process flows and materials, plus a 6,762 nm core cell-array height using a DRAM-optimized high-k metal-gate process. These are CXMT’s reported physical measurements, not independent performance-test results.

What does “50% more dies per wafer” measure?
CXMT compares G5 with its fourth-generation platform using an 8Gb-equivalent capacity baseline. On that basis, it says G5 fits at least 50% more gross dies on a wafer. Gross count includes dies before defective chips are screened out, so it cannot by itself establish a 50% gain in usable output, manufacturing yield or customer shipments.

What LPDDR5X products were announced—and are they shipping?
CXMT unveiled two G5-based 24Gb LPDDR5X products, which it says have 50% more capacity than comparable previous-generation products. They use 496-ball and 245-ball packages and target smartphones and other portable consumer electronics. CXMT says both products have entered mass production.

Mass production and customer shipment are different milestones. CXMT’s announcement, as described in the available sources, does not establish shipment dates or volumes for each package option. China Daily reports that a 24Gb LPDDR5X chip is already used in Chinese flagship smartphones, but that report does not separately confirm the customer status of both versions.
