Blockchain.com added short-term cryptocurrency options to its Trading Account on October 20, 2026. Eligible users can buy calls or puts on seven assets, pay the premium upfront in USDC and choose an expiry of up to one week. The key trade-off: positions cannot be closed early, so buyers must hold them until settlement.

How the options work
Users buy a call or put to express a view on an asset’s price direction. The in-app flow lets them select a cryptocurrency, set a target price and expiry, choose a direction, enter an amount and review the contract details before confirming.

Contracts expire within one week. The reported minimum premium is $5, with applicable fees potentially added. Trades are funded upfront from a Blockchain.com Trading Account in USDC.

The product is described as buy-only: users cannot sell or close a position before settlement. Reporting says a buyer’s loss is capped at the premium paid; fees may also apply, so users should review the total cost and potential payout before confirming.

Availability and U.S. regulatory plans
The product is for eligible users in supported jurisdictions. One report says U.S. and U.K. residents are excluded at launch; availability should therefore be checked against the platform’s current regional terms.

The launch comes as Blockchain.com pursues U.S. regulatory permissions. The company announced on October 13 that it had applied to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for registration as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and designation as a Designated Contract Market (DCM). Those are applications, not approvals. If approved, they could enable the company to offer regulated crypto derivatives and prediction-market contracts in the United States.

Blockchain.com already offers some international customers prediction markets linked to Polymarket and perpetual futures through Hyperliquid, according to reporting. The new options product adds another type of short-term trading contract to that international mix; it does not itself make the service available to U.S. users.
