Inside Amazon MGM Studios' GenAI Creators' Fund and Project Nara

Powering the entire initiative is Project Nara, which Amazon describes as the industry's first purpose-built, end-to-end AI production platform for visual storytelling . Built on AWS, it is designed to connect creators across a single AI-powered pipeline covering everything from pre-production through post-production to make high-quality content faster and at a lower cost . The platform integrates with industry-standard creative tools such as Maya, Blender, Nuke, and Unreal Engine .

The first tangible output from this new ecosystem is a slate of three animated children's series greenlit for Prime Video :

• Punky Duck, from Emmy-winning animator Jorge R. Gutierrez, known for The Book of Life and Maya and the Three . Gutierrez shared that he typically spends two years crafting a pilot, but his latest show received the green light in just eight weeks using the new process .
• Cupcake & Friends, produced by BuzzFeed Studios .
• Love, Diana Music Hunters, from creator Albie Hecht .

The speed of these greenlights signals a significant shift. Albert Cheng, who heads AI Studios for Amazon, stated in a prior panel that the goal is to "enhance the filmmaking process, and to save money — in the hopes of being able to greenlight more movies and films, and produce them faster and at lower costs" . This initiative follows Amazon's launch of a dedicated AI Studio in August 2025, with a closed beta of its tools announced for March 2026 .
