XPeng launched the G9L in Beijing on September 17, 2026, as a larger, five-seat alternative to the G9. China buyers can choose from four battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and two range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs). The limited-time launch prices are RMB 231,800–309,800, each RMB 10,000 below its listed guide price.

The prices and trim names are those reported for the China launch. The numbers in the BEV names correspond to their stated CLTC driving ranges; 1602 refers to the REEV’s combined battery-and-fuel range, not the distance it can travel on electricity alone.

How much bigger is the G9L than the G9?
The G9L measures 5,120 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,782 mm tall, with a 3,100 mm wheelbase. Against the earlier G9’s listed 4,891 mm length, 1,937 mm width and 2,998 mm wheelbase, that makes it 229 mm longer, 62 mm wider and 102 mm longer between the axles. G9 height varies by version: one comparison lists 1,680 mm for the standard model and 1,670 mm for the Performance.

Despite its larger footprint, the China-market G9L seats five, rather than adding a third row. It is also listed on XPeng’s SEPA 3.0 platform, versus SEPA 2.0 for the earlier G9. The clearest design distinction in the available reporting is therefore its larger, rear-passenger-focused layout—not a verified claim about specific exterior styling changes.

Chassis, range, charging and performance
Rear-wheel steering and dual-chamber air suspension are reported as standard across the G9L range. The rear wheels can steer by up to ±15 degrees, yielding a reported minimum turning radius of 5.4 metres—a useful specification to consider for an SUV more than five metres long.

The rear-wheel-drive 702 Max has a stated 702-km CLTC range. The two 660 AWD BEVs are rated for 660 km, while the 755 AWD Ultra Flagship is rated for 755 km. Reported battery capacities are 91.9 kWh for the 702 and 660 versions and 110 kWh for the 755 Flagship. The rear-drive model is reported at 270 kW; the 660 AWD models add a front motor for a reported 430 kW combined. A reported 4.45-second 0–100 km/h figure applies to the quicker electric configuration, not necessarily every BEV trim.

Both range-extended trims have all-wheel drive. Their reported specification pairs a 63.3-kWh battery with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine used as a generator. The stated CLTC range is 435 km on electricity or 1,602 km with battery and fuel combined; a 4.95-second 0–100 km/h time has also been reported for the REEV. These are reported specifications, not independently verified road-test results.

An 800V fast-charging architecture is reported across the lineup. XPeng has also claimed that charging can add 450 km of range in nine minutes, but the available account does not establish that result for every trim or charger. Treat it as a manufacturer charging claim, not a guaranteed stop time. All the quoted driving ranges use China’s CLTC test cycle and should not be read as promises of real-world range.

Driver assistance and five-seat cabin
XPeng positions the G9L as an AI-focused flagship and describes its driver-assistance system in terms of its VLA 2.0 model. Reporting puts the top intelligent-driving configuration at 2,250 TOPS of computing power. That top-configuration figure should not be assumed to apply to all six trims, and the cited material does not establish a dependable trim-by-trim list of assistance features.

The cabin’s reported features include AI-adaptive zero-gravity seats, a rear executive console, a folding table and an onboard refrigerator. They help explain the choice to devote the larger body to five occupants, though availability of individual amenities should be checked against the chosen trim.

Paris debut and production plans
XPeng has scheduled the G9L’s international launch for October 12, 2026, at the Paris Motor Show and says it intends to introduce the vehicle in 64 markets. It has announced production plans for Guangzhou, China, and Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria. As of September 25, the Paris event and planned Austrian production remain future steps; the 64-market announcement does not mean the SUV is already on sale in all those places.
