Standout Features

Next-Gen Silicon-Carbon Battery

The centerpiece of the Nova Y74 is undoubtedly its 6,620mAh battery, which uses a high-density silicon-carbon composite anode. This material technology allows for a higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, promising exceptional longevity. Huawei claims the battery can power up to 30.6 hours of local video playback and 48.1 hours of continuous calling, with reliable operation even in temperatures as low as –20°C .

40W SuperCharge Turbo

Paired with the massive battery is 40W wired fast charging. Huawei states that a 15-minute charge can provide roughly 5 hours of video playback, and the phone can reach a 53% charge in just 30 minutes, even in freezing conditions .

The Customizable X Button

A unique hardware feature is the new X Button. Located on the side of the phone, this key can be customized for one-press access to frequently used apps or phone functions. Users can set it to launch an app with a double-press or a press-and-hold, bypassing the need to navigate menus .

The Big Unknown: The Processor

One of the most unusual aspects of this launch is the complete mystery surrounding the chipset. Huawei's official listing for the global Nova Y74 does not name the processor . This has fueled speculation, with initial rumors suggesting a Kirin 8000 series SoC.

However, multiple sources indicate this is likely a misunderstanding. The Kirin 8000A powers a similar device released only in China, the Huawei Enjoy 90. The global Y74 variant is widely expected to use a different, lower-tier chip due to its 4G-only limitation and the inclusion of Wi-Fi 4 instead of newer standards . Analysts and third-party speculators point to the older Kirin 710A, the same chip used in the Nova Y73, as the most probable candidate . Until Huawei officially confirms the processor, any chipset name should be treated as speculative.

Pricing and Availability: A Soft Launch

Despite having a full product page and spec sheet live on Huawei's global consumer site as of June 1, 2026, the Nova Y74 is not yet commercially available .

• No Price Announced: No official price has been listed in any market. Any prices found on third-party reseller sites are speculative and not endorsed by Huawei.
• No Release Date or Regional Plan: The product page lacks a "Buy" button, a pre-order link, or a country-specific launch schedule . The phone remains in a "soft launch" status, with Huawei yet to announce where or when it will go on sale.

In summary, the Huawei Nova Y74 is a compelling budget offering on paper, highlighted by cutting-edge battery tech and a useful hardware shortcut key. However, the lack of 5G, the undisclosed processor, and the complete absence of price and availability information make it a phone that is officially revealed but not yet truly launched.
