01Health Raises $15M Series A to Decentralize Specialist Care

The biggest bottleneck in healthcare isn’t cost; it’s access. Specialists are concentrated in a handful of postcodes, but patients are everywhere else. This mismatch is what drove Dr. Sonia Szamocki, a former NHS A&E doctor, to found London-based 01Health in 2022. On June 10, 2026, 01Health announced a $15 million Series A funding round to tackle this problem head-on by turning its technology into infrastructure that any local clinic can use. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $25 million .

The Series A round was led by Gresham House Ventures, with strong follow-on support from existing investors Balderton Capital, Eka Ventures, and Wavemaker360. The round also attracted angel investors, including Blockchain.com co-founder Nicolas Cary .

From the NHS Front Line to CEO

Dr. Sonia Szamocki's path to founding 01Health is not the typical startup story. She trained in medicine at Oxford University and worked in Emergency Medicine at some of the world’s leading teaching hospitals. On the front lines of the NHS, she repeatedly witnessed the same systemic failure: a patient’s geographic location, not their clinical need, determined whether they got specialist care .

To understand why the infrastructure was broken, she took a role as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). There, she analyzed how healthcare systems failed to distribute specialist expertise. She then left to build a replacement, founding 01Health in 2022 .

01Health describes its platform as an end-to-end technology infrastructure designed to put “Harley Street on the high street” . The system combines several critical components to achieve this:

Proven in Practice: From Dentistry to Sleep Medicine

Before opening the platform up to other companies, 01Health used it to power its own direct-to-consumer healthcare services, proving the model works:

• 32Co: An orthodontics platform offering clear aligner treatment. It has built a nationwide UK network and was rated the UK’s highest-rated clear aligner provider. Today, 90% of the UK population lives within 30 minutes of a 32Co dentist operating on the 01Health platform .
• Aerox Health: A dental sleep medicine provider that also uses the platform’s specialist oversight capabilities .

Trials are already underway in additional healthcare specialties, signaling that the model can extend far beyond dental care .

The Three-Pronged Deployment Plan

The $15 million in new capital has a clear, three-part strategy :

1. UK Growth
The company will aggressively roll out its platform across more UK practices, clinic groups, and dental service organizations, deepening its domestic footprint.

2. US Expansion
01Health is officially entering the U.S. market. Trials are already running on the ground, and the company has appointed a head of U.S. commercial operations to lead the charge.

3. Commercial Launch as a Standalone Platform
This is the most significant strategic shift. For the first time, 01Health is licensing its technology as a standalone product. Following a 12-month pilot with enterprise partners, external practices, practice groups, and dental service organizations can now deploy the 01Health platform directly. This moves the company beyond operating its own clinical brands into becoming a core infrastructure provider for decentralized specialist care.
