Five Ubisoft Games Are Free to Try on Xbox Through October 4—No Game Pass Needed

Xbox Free Play Days is offering five Ubisoft games to try from Thursday, October 1, through Sunday, October 4, 2026. All Xbox members can take part without a Game Pass subscription—but the access is temporary, not a free copy to keep. 2

The five games in the lineup

• Far Cry 6: An open-world shooter about resisting a dictatorship on the fictional island of Yara. 2
• Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: An action RPG set in ancient Greece, where you play as a mercenary. 2
• Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora: An open-world adventure following a Na’vi exploring and defending Pandora. 2
• Skull and Bones: A pirate game centered on sailing and naval combat. 2
• The Crew Motorfest: An open-world motorsports game set in Hawaii. 2

How to play without Game Pass

Go to a participating game’s page on Xbox.com, or find it through the Xbox Store, and sign in to see the installation option. Xbox says Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential memberships are not required for this event. 2

Free Play Days access lasts only for the event window. Trying a game does not add it permanently to your library; you would need to buy it to keep playing after the promotion ends.

Which Xbox consoles can run the games?

Console support varies by game. The sources available here do not confirm the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S compatibility of each individual title, so check the game’s Microsoft Store listing for the supported console before installing. 21

What happens to your progress if you buy?

Ubisoft says progress carries over if you purchase a game after trying it during Free Play Days. 26 The available information does not specify separate transfer rules for every title, so check the individual game listing if you need details before buying.

How this Free Play Days event differs

Xbox’s general Free Play Days information describes the program as offering limited-time trials to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members. This event is an exception: all five featured games are available to all Xbox members without those subscriptions. 230

The previous week’s lineup was different. Xbox announced PGA Tour 2K25 and The Division 2 for all Xbox members, while The Escapists 2 and Young Suns were for eligible Game Pass members. 33

Are there U.S. sale prices?

The sources available here do not establish the individual U.S. sale prices for these five games, so specific dollar amounts can’t be confirmed. Ubisoft’s sale announcement mentions discounts of up to 80% on Ubisoft titles in the Microsoft Store, but it does not provide verified prices for each game in this lineup. 26
