What is included in the set?
The model recreates the original gray PlayStation console and its first-generation controller, including the controller’s recognizable colored face-button markings. It is built as a display piece, but several elements are designed to be handled rather than simply viewed. 4
13
Pressable buttons, opening lid and plug-in controller
LEGO PlayStation 72306 has functional mechanisms for the console’s Power and Open buttons. Its disc lid opens, and the brick-built controller can plug into the console’s front port. 13
14
That interaction distinguishes it from a static miniature: the model is intended to reproduce key physical rituals of using the original hardware, while remaining a brick-built collectible rather than a playable console.
Two removable PlayStation game dioramas
Opening the disc lid reveals concealed dioramas based on Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. Both can be removed and displayed independently. 13
14
The Gran Turismo scene includes a miniature track with scaled-down cars. The Ape Escape scene depicts an island setting and includes a swappable blue or red light on the monkey’s helmet. 13
Size and display footprint
The finished console measures 26 cm (10.5 inches) wide, placing it close to the size of the original PlayStation rather than the smaller scale used by many toy-console replicas. 13
Reports also list the completed model at roughly 19 cm deep and 6 cm high. 10 Combined with the controller and detachable scenes, it is best treated as a shelf or desk display rather than a compact ornament.
Price and release dates
The set’s listed price is $179.99 in the United States, €159.99 in Europe, and £139.99 in the United Kingdom. 11
Availability is split between PlayStation and LEGO retail channels:
- October 1, 2026: PlayStation Direct availability begins.
11
- October 4, 2026: LEGO stores and LEGO’s online channels begin selling the set.
Availability, shipping options and local pricing can vary by region, so buyers should check the official store serving their delivery location before ordering.
Is the Astro Bot gift-with-purchase confirmed?
Pre-announcement reports said a separate Astro Bot build, reportedly numbered 40899, could be offered as a limited gift-with-purchase alongside LEGO PlayStation 72306. 39
34
However, the available official PlayStation announcement details the console model, its dioramas and interactive functions without confirming an Astro Bot promotion. 13 That means its eligibility threshold, dates, participating stores, stock allocation and whether it will happen at all should be considered unconfirmed until LEGO or PlayStation publishes promotion-specific terms.
Where the PlayStation set fits in LEGO’s retro-console collection
LEGO PlayStation 72306 continues a line of large, nostalgia-focused gaming-hardware builds. LEGO previously released the Nintendo Entertainment System 71374 in 2020, followed by the Atari 2600 10306 in 2022. 55
50
The PlayStation follows the same broad idea—recreate landmark hardware and hide game references within the build—but has its own emphasis: a near-full-size console, a controller that plugs into the system, pressable controls and two removable game dioramas. For collectors of LEGO’s prior console models, it is the PlayStation-era counterpart to those earlier Nintendo and Atari displays. 13
