Choose Your Legends is Fire Emblem Heroes’ annual popularity poll. The first poll took place in 2017, and the event has been held every year since. Players vote for favorite characters from across the Fire Emblem series.
The format has traditionally selected the top two male and top two female characters. Those winners receive special in-game versions, often associated with the series’ “Brave Heroes” tradition. That makes the August banner the payoff for a voting process that takes place earlier in the year, connecting player preferences directly to new playable units.
The featured units’ statistics and skills were shown in the New Heroes: Grand Festival trailer, the announcement video tied directly to the summoning event. Nintendo also shared the broader Feh Channel: Choose Your Legends 2026 Edition presentation at the same time.
The two pieces serve different purposes: the trailer is the clearest source for the units’ combat details, while the Feh Channel presentation provides the wider Choose Your Legends announcement and event context.
Rodrigue: Faerghus Shield arrives through a limited-time Grand Hero Battle beginning August 18 at 12:00 a.m. PT. To recruit him, players must challenge and clear the special Grand Hero Battle map. These battles use difficult limited-time maps and can make the featured headliner available as a playable unit after completion.
The available information confirms the start time and recruitment route, but does not provide Rodrigue’s unit statistics, skills, map difficulties, or reward rarity. Those details should be checked in the in-game event notice or the official event materials when available.
Grand Festival follows the established Choose Your Legends cycle: the community votes, the winners are converted into special versions, and the resulting banner arrives around August. The series’ mid-August timing is consistent with the previous round: Nintendo’s Round 9 winners entered the Fire Emblem Heroes Shining Resolve summoning event on August 15, 2025.
That timing makes August the key month for players following the poll. Round 10’s winners move from a community vote to playable units on August 17, while the separate Rodrigue battle expands the launch with a recruitable character one day later.
