Zocdoc is particularly notable: Google described it as part of the "Home, health, and lifestyle" category and called it the first health appointments partner for Gemini connected apps .
Just 12 days before the event — on July 30, 2026 — a proposed class action was filed against Granola in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California: Chamberlain v. Granola, Inc. & Granola Labs Ltd., Case No. 3:26-cv-07926-EMC . It remains unresolved.
Google announced Granola as a Gemini connected partner roughly one day after the lawsuit became widely reported (August 1) and just 12 days after the filing itself, drawing attention to the tension between the partnership and the outstanding litigation.
These integrations arrive at a pivotal moment for Gemini. The app had 950 million monthly active users as of Alphabet's Q2 2026 earnings on July 22 , and on August 11 — the day before the event — CEO Sundar Pichai announced Gemini had crossed 1 billion monthly active users, making it the 14th Google product and the fastest-growing in company history
.
Google has maintained a policy of not running ads inside the Gemini app. These integrations provide a monetization path without breaking that rule: Gemini becomes a transactional concierge that drives bookings, purchases, and service requests to partners, who pay Google via affiliate/referral economics rather than in-app display ads.
With 1 billion MAUs, the integrations transform Gemini from a chat UI into an agentic platform — users can book doctors (Zocdoc), hire contractors (Angi/Thumbtack), rent cars (Localiza), and buy tickets (Ticketmaster) without leaving the Gemini interface. This directly competes with similar agent plays from ChatGPT and positions Gemini as Google's primary conversational-commerce layer.
The Granola risk introduces a reputational and due-diligence concern: including a company currently facing a federal wiretap class action as a launch partner suggests either rapid partnership velocity or a calculated bet that the lawsuit will be resolved before it impacts user trust in Gemini's connected-app ecosystem.
