| First choice. Gengchen is read as having a more balanced Metal-Earth quality, with a stronger sense of holding, stabilising and containing. |
| 2 | May 5, 2026 | Listed as Bingwu year, Guisi month, Jimao day. Auspicious items include marriage, worship or offerings, prayer, seeking offspring, setting the bed and travel. | Second choice. The seeking-offspring symbolism is direct, but Jimao has a stronger Wood-Fire feel, which is less balancing if the overall chart is already fire-heavy. |
| 3 | May 7, 2026 | Listed in almanac sources as Bingwu year, Guisi month, Xinsi day. | Not the first choice. Xin Metal is usable in theory, but the Si Fire branch repeats; under a fire-heavy premise, the day feels less balanced than May 6. |
Traditional date selection depends heavily on the calendar data, so the first step is to verify the stems and branches.
For May 5, 2026, one Chinese calendar source lists the date as Bingwu year, Guisi month, Jimao day, with auspicious activities including marriage, worship or offerings, prayer, seeking offspring, opening business, trading, setting the bed, travel and dismantling. Another perpetual-calendar source also lists the day as Guisi month, Jimao day, and gives the Start of Summer solar term time as 19:48:27 on May 5.
For May 7, 2026, almanac sources list the day as Bingwu year, Guisi month, Xinsi day. Since Jimao, Gengchen and Xinsi are consecutive days in the sexagenary cycle, May 6 can be compared as Gengchen day between the May 5 and May 7 entries.
One detail matters for more technical bazi work: the Start of Summer solar term, Lixia, is shown at about 19:48 on May 5, 2026. If a practitioner calculates the bazi month strictly by solar-term transition time, May 5 may need time-of-day treatment. This article, however, compares the three Gregorian dates requested and uses the available almanac data as a cultural reference.
May 6 is not ranked first simply because an almanac table contains the words seeking offspring. The stronger argument is the combination of three things: the sexagenary day, the five-phase balance, and the stated fire-heavy chart premise.
By the day sequence between Jimao on May 5 and Xinsi on May 7, May 6 is compared as Gengchen day. In traditional five-phase language, Geng has a Metal association, which can be read as a useful counterweight when Fire is already prominent. Chen has an Earth association and is often read with images of holding, storing and stabilising. For an embryo transfer, where the desired symbolism is steadiness, containment and nurturing, Gengchen is the most balanced of the three dates under this premise.
The hourly table for May 6 also supports the ranking. It lists multiple time periods with auspicious items such as seeking offspring, prayer for offspring, marriage or setting the bed. A separate auspicious-date overview also includes May 6 in its May 2026 lucky-day list.
That does not mean every hour on May 6 is equally favourable. The same hourly table also lists different prohibitions for different time periods, including one slot marked as unsuitable for all matters. If your clinic offers more than one transfer window on the same day, the hour can be considered as a secondary cultural preference. It should not override the medical schedule.
May 5 has one clear advantage: the almanac entries are explicitly friendly to fertility-related symbolism. The date is listed with auspicious items including prayer, seeking offspring and setting the bed.
Its limitation is the day itself: Jimao. Under the chart premise used here, where Fire is already relatively strong, Mao Wood can be read as feeding or emphasising Fire. That does not make May 5 a bad day. It simply means its fertility wording is stronger than its overall balancing quality.
So if May 6 is unavailable because of clinic scheduling, laboratory timing, medication or your physical condition, May 5 is a reasonable second choice from this traditional perspective.
May 7 is listed as Xinsi day, within Bingwu year and Guisi month.
Xin has a Metal association, so the day is not automatically unusable. The issue is the branch Si, which has a strong Fire association. Looking across the year, month and day information, Wu and Si Fire imagery is already prominent in the listed calendar data. If the underlying bazi premise is that the couple’s overall chart context is fire-heavy, May 7 is more likely to be read as concentrated rather than balanced.
For that reason, May 7 should not be placed ahead of May 6 in this Tong Sheng and bazi-style comparison. If the medical team says May 7 is clearly the best or only suitable date, the medical reasoning should come first; otherwise, it is not the preferred traditional choice.
Only if it is easy and medically harmless to do so.
For May 6, the hourly table includes several entries connected with seeking offspring or prayer, but it also lists hour-specific cautions and prohibitions. In practice, the hour should be considered only after the clinic has confirmed the feasible transfer window.
If you want a precise hour, a practitioner would ideally need the actual transfer time, full birth data, solar-term handling and the clinic’s workflow. It is not wise to disrupt an IVF cycle simply because one column of an almanac looks attractive.
If May 5, May 6 and May 7, 2026 are all equally acceptable medically, the traditional ranking is:
In plain English: if the clinic says all three dates work equally well, choose May 6. If May 6 is not possible, May 5 is the backup. Choose May 7 only if the medical schedule makes it the better option.
