Google Gemini Live Just Got a Major Upgrade: Memory, More Apps, and a New Voice Experience

Rollout status: The memory feature began rolling out in English in the United States starting in June 2026 . Google's support page notes that the rollout is gradual .

Connected Apps Expansion: YouTube, Spotify, Workspace, and More

As part of the Neural Expressive redesign in late May 2026, Gemini Live on Android gained access to a much wider set of first- and third-party Connected Apps . Previously limited to Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Maps (plus third-party equivalents from Samsung, Honor, OnePlus, and others), Gemini Live can now interact with a broader range of apps during voice conversations .

The expanded first-party app list includes:

• YouTube and YouTube Music
• Spotify
• Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive)
• Google Home, Hotels, and Flights
• Image generation tools
• Shopping and Utilities

Users can now ask Gemini Live to play a song on Spotify, check Google Home devices, or search for flights while talking. Google's support page also lists that Google Messages integration is still pending .

Neural Expressive Redesign & New Voices

The interface itself was overhauled. The old fullscreen Gemini Live layout was replaced with a floating UI that integrates directly into the text chat experience, allowing you to switch seamlessly between typing and voice conversation mid-session .

New voices "Flare" and "Glow" were added, replacing the previous "Nova" and "Lyra" options. The voice picker was also redesigned from a carousel to a list layout in Gemini Settings, making it easier to browse. The full voice lineup now includes options like Ursa, Vega, Pegasus, Dipper, Eclipse, Capella (British accent), and Orbit .

Other Notable Upgrades

• Faster AI model: Gemini Live was upgraded to run on Gemini 3.1 Flash, making responses approximately 20% faster and doubling the conversation context length that the model can follow without losing track .
• Search Live expansion: Real-time AI search via Gemini Live expanded to over 200 countries and territories in March 2026 .
• Chat integration: Gemini Live is now built directly into the chat interface, enabling a natural flow between talking and typing within a single conversation .
