As part of the Neural Expressive redesign in late May 2026, Gemini Live on Android gained access to a much wider set of first- and third-party Connected Apps . Previously limited to Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Maps (plus third-party equivalents from Samsung, Honor, OnePlus, and others), Gemini Live can now interact with a broader range of apps during voice conversations

Users can now ask Gemini Live to play a song on Spotify, check Google Home devices, or search for flights while talking. Google's support page also lists that Google Messages integration is still pending .
The interface itself was overhauled. The old fullscreen Gemini Live layout was replaced with a floating UI that integrates directly into the text chat experience, allowing you to switch seamlessly between typing and voice conversation mid-session .
New voices "Flare" and "Glow" were added, replacing the previous "Nova" and "Lyra" options. The voice picker was also redesigned from a carousel to a list layout in Gemini Settings, making it easier to browse. The full voice lineup now includes options like Ursa, Vega, Pegasus, Dipper, Eclipse, Capella (British accent), and Orbit .
