TotalEnergies ENEOS Commissions Vietnam's Largest Rooftop Solar Project at Samsung's HCMC Complex

On July 3, 2026, TotalEnergies ENEOS commissioned a nearly 28 MWp rooftop solar photovoltaic system at the Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is the joint venture's largest rooftop solar installation in Vietnam and the first rooftop solar project in the country to operate under a Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) with a dedicated transmission line .

Scale and Technical Specifications

The installation covers the factory roofs of the SEHC complex in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park and includes approximately 45,000 solar panels . The project has the following key metrics:

• Capacity: Nearly 28 MWp (megawatt-peak)
• Annual generation: Expected to produce more than 40,000 MWh of clean electricity per year
• Onsite operations powered: Supplies about 26% of Samsung Electronics' onsite electricity needs at the complex
• CO₂ avoided: Reduces over 26,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually

Power Purchase Agreement Structure

The project is structured as a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between TotalEnergies ENEOS and Samsung . It is the first rooftop solar project in Vietnam to operate under the country's Direct Power Purchase Agreement mechanism, with a dedicated transmission line connecting the system directly to the factory . This private-wire arrangement was established under Vietnam's Decree 57 DPPA framework .

Significance for Samsung's RE100 Commitment and Vietnam Strategy

Samsung Electronics joined the RE100 initiative in September 2022, pledging to transition to 100% renewable electricity and achieve net-zero emissions (Scope 1 & 2) across all global operations by 2050 . Under that strategy, Samsung aims to match all electricity needs with renewable energy at its Device eXperience (DX) Division and all overseas sites by 2027 .

The SEHC rooftop project directly advances that target. It is part of a broader push in Vietnam: Samsung also started operating a rooftop solar system at its Bac Ninh factory in July 2025, and its Thai Nguyen subsidiary became the first company in Vietnam to purchase renewable electricity through the national grid under the DPPA mechanism in June 2026 .

At the inauguration ceremony, SEHC CEO Hwang Keun Ha stated that the project "reflects Samsung's long-term commitment to renewable energy and sustainable production" and serves as a foundation for expanding future green initiatives at the complex .
