Sony delivered eight games to PS Plus Extra and Premium in June 2026, but introduced a staggered rollout in the US, UK, and Japan that mirrors Xbox Game Pass’s approach — Blades of Fire arrived on June 30 as the final... The change means subscribers in the three test markets faced delays of one to two weeks for titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Black Desert, a shift that generated both curiosity and frustration among players.
June 10 (all regions): Sonic X Shadow Generations and Destiny 2: Legacy Collection kicked off the month .
June 16 (all regions): Final Fantasy XVI and Gitaroo Man launched worldwide. This was also the day the full remainder of the catalog went live in all regions outside the US, UK, and Japan .
June 23 (US, UK, Japan only): Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Farming Simulator 25, and Black Desert arrived .
June 30 (US, UK, Japan only): Blades of Fire closed out the staggered schedule .
The practical effect: subscribers in the three test markets had to wait an extra one or two weeks for titles that players elsewhere could play on June 16 .
How the Staggered Approach Compares to Xbox Game Pass
Sony explicitly described the change as "exploring new ways to deliver PlayStation Plus Game Catalog titles" . Multiple gaming outlets confirmed that the new system mirrors Xbox Game Pass's long-standing model, where games are added throughout the month rather than in a single drop . IGN reported: "This is the same approach as on Xbox Game Pass, and is being trialled in these countries first" . The trial applies only to the US, UK, and Japan; all other regions still receive the full batch at once .
The shift has been controversially received, with some players frustrated by the regional fragmentation . Sony has not said whether it plans to expand or abandon the trial after June.
Black Desert — Free Bonus Items and Deadline
Black Desert (Console Edition) joined the PS Plus Extra/Premium catalog on June 16, 2026. To celebrate, developer Pearl Abyss is offering the Dark Prince Gift Pack, a free bonus pack valued at over $30 USD / €30 .
What the pack includes:
Dark Prince cosmetic outfit box
Karlstein Cat pet (helps with loot collection)
10x Combat/Skill EXP scrolls (300% bonus for 60 minutes each)
Availability period: The pack can be claimed from June 16, 2026, until August 13, 2026 at 07:00 UTC.
How to claim: Visit the Black Desert page on the PlayStation Store (or Xbox Store), look for the "Add-Ons" section, and download/purchase the free Dark Prince Gift Pack. Then log into the game and collect the items from in-game mail .
Note that in some regions — including Japan — the pack may be listed at a minimum price (e.g., 100 JPY) rather than free due to local regulations . The game itself remains playable at no extra cost for as long as it stays in the PS Plus catalog .
What This Means for Future PS Plus Lineups
Sony's June 2026 experiment represents the most significant shift in PlayStation Plus Game Catalog delivery since the service was restructured in 2022. By aligning its release strategy with Xbox Game Pass, Sony may be testing whether weekly game drops increase subscriber engagement and retention. However, the regional fragmentation has clearly frustrated some players, and the reception in the trial markets will likely determine whether the staggered model becomes permanent.
For now, subscribers in most of the world still get the full catalog in one monthly drop — but that may not last if Sony determines that staggered delivery is the future.
