TikTok is exploring a way for users to send money to one another inside direct messages, potentially using TikTok Pay to process the transfers. References found in its US iPhone app suggest development work, not a launch: TikTok said the feature was not being tested in any market, and it has not committed to releasing it.332

What is known

• How it would work: The reported concept is a person-to-person transfer within a DM rather than a payment for a TikTok Shop purchase. TikTok Pay, already available for purchases in parts of Southeast Asia, is the proposed transaction system; the evidence does not establish final steps, fees, eligibility, or a launch country.3712
• ByteDance’s payments strategy: Extending TikTok Pay from shopping to transfers would connect payments more closely to TikTok’s social activity.
