UKMTO’s initial report did not specify whether the two casualties were people injured or killed. It also did not establish the vessel’s eventual condition after reporting it on fire and adrift. The crew evacuation was reported as complete.1246

Authorities were investigating the strike. The available account identifies neither the projectile’s origin nor who fired it. UKMTO said no environmental impact had been reported at the time; that is not confirmation that no fuel or cargo escaped.146

Wednesday’s cargo-ship strike followed other, distinct projectile incidents in and around the strait.
