In August 2026, Google Cloud positioned two new offerings as complementary infrastructure for AI agents: database agents that reduce the human work of provisioning and operating data stores, and persistent Cloud Run runtimes for agents that need to stay online rather than scale to zero. Both sit within its “Agentic Data Cloud” and broader push to make cloud infrastructure more autonomous, conversational, and agent-ready. 211

• Database Operations Agents (announced August 5):

  • The Database Onboarding Agent addresses “Day 0” work: it interprets workload requirements, recommends an appropriate managed database, and guides setup, configuration, and deployment—rather than requiring teams to manually make all architecture and provisioning decisions. It covers AlloyDB, Bigtable, Cloud SQL, and Spanner. 2
  • The Database Observability Agent handles “Day 1/2” operations: fleet monitoring, anomaly detection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance. It supports Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, Spanner, Bigtable, Firestore, and Memorystore. 213
