Human Rights Watch reported on June 11, 2026, that the Israeli military had declared nearly 14% of Lebanon's territory — the entire area south of the Zahrani river — as a closed military zone, ordering residents to leave.
On June 23, 2026, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem demanded a full, scheduled withdrawal of Israeli troops from all Lebanese territory, stating in a televised address, "There is no option before Israel except a full withdrawal from all Lebanese land without retaining an inch." He reiterated this position on June 26–27 at an Ashura rally in Beirut's southern suburbs, calling for an "unconditional" withdrawal and saying Israel "has no option but to withdraw completely from every inch of our Lebanese land and cease all aggression by air, land and sea."
Qassem also called for the implementation of five key requirements, including a complete halt to Israeli attacks and the deployment of the Lebanese army south of the Litani River.
Lebanon's health ministry reported that as of June 20, 2026, Israeli attacks since the resumption of hostilities in March 2026 had left 4,057 dead and 12,121 wounded. The Wikipedia article on the 2026 Lebanon war cites 4,230 killed, 12,179 injured, and 1.2 million displaced in Lebanon.
An earlier Asharq Al-Awsat report (June 16, 2026) gave a toll of at least 3,783 killed from March 2 to June 14.
The toll includes 247 children, 363 women, and 133 healthcare workers per one report; these figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, and Hezbollah has not said how many of its fighters were killed.
