The New Trailer and Adversary

The 5th trailer for the game was unveiled during the State of Play presentation. It showcases Mount Oe, a famous location in Kyoto that has been repurposed by the Genma as a dark fortress. The trailer also introduces a major new antagonist: Shuten Doji, a colossal Genma who audaciously claims to be the Oni of legend .

Combat System

Capcom detailed a deep, physics-driven combat system centered on realistic swordplay. Developers at the PlayStation Blog highlighted several key mechanics :

• Core Combat: The system is built on impact-based strike physics, rewarding precise timing with Parry and Deflect maneuvers. The franchise's iconic Issen critical attack returns as a powerful counter.
• Reflex Combo: By continuously dodging enemy attacks, players fill a special gauge that, when full, unlocks a devastating combo.
• Oni Abilities: Musashi can tap into his demonic power in two distinct ways. Oni Strength is a brute-force mode for shattering enemy defenses, while Oni Agility provides explosive speed, even allowing Musashi to run along certain walls to access hidden areas.
• Returning Systems: The classic Soul Absorption mechanic and Oni Armament transformations were also shown in the gameplay footage .

Playable Demo Available Now

A playable demo is available for download immediately on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This is not a limited-time trial; it covers roughly the first 30 minutes of the story .

The demo is set in the Kiyomizu-dera Temple stage and culminates in a boss fight against Sasaki Ganryu. While progress from the demo will not transfer to the full game, Capcom confirmed that players who have demo save data will receive a special bonus item, the Charm: Kubi Akari, in the full release .

Pre-order Bonuses and Launch Editions

Pre-orders went live alongside the State of Play broadcast. Based on coverage of the event, players who pre-order will receive the Sealed Curse sword weapon and the Lion Dog charm accessory .

Capcom is releasing the game in multiple editions. While the full contents of each tier were outlined on the PlayStation Blog, they are confirmed to include standard, deluxe, and premium options .
