Google is separating Gemini model access more sharply by subscription tier. From November 13, 2026, AI Plus subscribers will lose the option to select Pro models in the Gemini app and Google Search AI Mode, but will keep access to Flash and Flash-Lite. The change is distinct from a separate Antigravity policy update that allows some eligible device-bundled AI Pro trials to use Gemini 4 Argon.

What changes for each Google AI plan
| Plan |
What the available evidence says |
| AI Plus — $4.99/month |
From November 13, Pro model selection is removed from Gemini and Search AI Mode. Flash and Flash-Lite remain available. 13 17 |
| AI Pro — $19.99/month |
Pro model selection remains available. Google also lists Gemini 4 Argon for Pro subscribers in Gemini and Search AI Mode. 17 35 |
| AI Ultra |
Google lists Argon for Ultra subscribers in Gemini and Search AI Mode, and for Ultra subscribers in Antigravity. The supplied sources do not establish a single U.S. Ultra price, so it is not included here. 35 |
Moving from AI Plus to AI Pro is roughly a fourfold increase in the listed monthly price—from $4.99 to $19.99—to keep selecting Pro models. That comparison is about the plan prices and model-selection change, not a claim that the plans offer otherwise identical benefits.

Existing Pro conversations can continue on another model
The subscriber notice says conversations previously using a Pro model can continue with a different model. It describes a change in which model handles those chats, not deletion of the conversations.

Free-user access is less clear
Reports about free Gemini accounts describe different effects from an October 9 change. One says free users were limited to Flash-Lite, while another describes automatic model routing that may still assign more demanding tasks to Flash or Pro. The available evidence therefore does not establish that every free user completely lost access to those other models; a restriction on choosing a model manually may be part of the difference.

Antigravity trial access is a separate issue
Gemini 4 Argon launched on October 13. Google’s announcement listed Pro and Ultra access in the Gemini app and Search AI Mode, but listed Ultra access for Antigravity at launch.

Subsequent reporting said Antigravity initially distinguished paid AI Pro subscriptions from promotional trials, leaving trial users without some capabilities available to paying subscribers. After complaints, Google began extending Argon access in Antigravity to promotional AI Pro accounts.

The current Antigravity documentation qualifies that access: Argon is available with paid AI Pro plans or on trial with eligible premium devices. It does not promise Argon to every promotional subscriber. Antigravity also says model availability and rate limits depend on the user’s plan.

That makes the two changes easy to confuse but important to separate: AI Plus loses Pro model selection in Gemini and Search; Antigravity trial access depends on eligibility and the account’s plan. The Antigravity update is not a general restoration of all paid-plan features to every trial account.
