Tencent Marvis’s Four AI Butlers Put PC and File Management First

Tencent’s September 24, 2026 update reorganized Marvis from a general AI assistant into a team of four desktop “butlers,” each with a distinct job: maintain the PC, organize files, operate through the browser or manage software. The shift makes the product’s focus clearer: helping people manage their computers and personal digital assets, rather than centering the experience on office documents and business workflows. 34

What the four Marvis butlers do

• PC butler: Handles computer cleanup, troubleshooting, settings, hardware checks and performance tuning. Tencent says it draws on its enterprise IT repair knowledge base and offers more than 100 quick commands. The company reports about 92% completion for PC-butler tasks; the cited reports do not provide an independent test methodology for that figure. System-level actions can still require user confirmation or a password. 24
• File butler: Finds files within authorized local or cloud sources and can organize them into topic-based knowledge bases for search, questions and summaries. Tencent Docs is integrated, while WeCom document support was described as forthcoming. 34
• Browser butler: Connects to the user’s local browser through an extension and can use existing sign-ins for web tasks such as research, downloading resources and filling out forms. 34
• Software butler: Installs, updates and manages PC applications, games and Android apps that can run on a computer. Tencent also describes game-performance diagnosis and tuning among its capabilities. 23

A desktop-and-assets focus—not simply another office agent

Marvis’s four roles are organized around the user’s device and the things stored or managed through it: system settings, local and cloud files, browser activity and installed software. That is a different center of gravity from an assistant positioned chiefly around producing office documents or coordinating business workflows. The available reporting describes Marvis’s own focus; it does not establish a direct comparison of performance against office agents. 34

The separate butler entry points also give users clearer starting places for those tasks. Instead of needing to guess what to ask in a blank chat, users can choose a specialist based on the job. 78

Integrations, hardware and announced plans

Tencent says the file butler already connects with Tencent Docs, with WeCom documents planned. For hardware, it announced an OEM version for PC makers and work with Intel and Qualcomm on chip-level optimization. It also described customized Marvis versions for Kylin and UnionTech operating systems, as well as a NAS version developed with Intel and Feiniu. These are partnership and rollout announcements; they should not all be read as confirmation that every customized build is already available. 3422

Tencent also said users would be able to describe a custom butler in natural language and configure its skills, tools and MCP connections. Reports placed access in late October and a formal launch in November. Those dates were announced plans as of the September update, not evidence that the feature had shipped. 322

The update’s most concrete promise is its practical scope: Marvis is being organized around routine computer and file-management jobs, with browser and app controls alongside them. The 92% PC-task figure is encouraging as a company-reported result, but it needs independent testing and a clear definition of “completion” before it can be treated as a general measure of reliability. 24
