Gan Ching Hwee: three events, three silvers

Gan won Singapore’s first swimming medal of the Games with 1,500m freestyle silver in 16:00.45, a national record. Her 8:29.56 split at 800m in that race also broke the national 800m mark at the time. 13

She then reached the 400m freestyle final and took silver in another national record, 4:06.81. On the last day of swimming, she added 800m silver in 8:26.25—faster than her earlier 800m split and a new national record for the event.
